We get asked all sorts of questions about how our secure shredding service works so we have put together the most frequently asked questions (faqs) and answers below. Can’t see the answer that you are looking for? Don’t worry, simply use the contact form, chat with us online or give us a call.
Do you supply boxes for confidential waste?
No- while our pricing does cover boxes as well as sacks, this is on the assumption that your confidential waste is already in boxes and you don’t wish to decant it into sacks. If you do wish to decant it that’s not a problem, make sure you order “With Sacks”, if you are not sure how many sacks you need, request a sample sack here. Of course if you wish to buy archive boxes we can help, please click here for more information.
Are your employees security vetted?
Yes – All employees are DBS checked to ensure that they are appropriate persons to handle your confidential waste.
Can we arrange a regular confidential waste service?
Yes – we can supply and service a wide range of secure confidential waste bins, consoles and cabinets or simply collect sacks on a regular basis. For more information, please click here.
What can be shredded?
We can shred all of your confidential waste. You do not need to remove documents from files/folders, nor do you need to remove staples or paperclips. All we ask is that it is mostly paper based. Plastic sleeves are also acceptable in a reasonable quantity as are envelopes and cardboard.
Do you Shred on Site?
No – Our drivers will collect from your site and transport the confidential waste back to our processing facility in Bedfordshire. All waste is bar-coded on collection and a full audit trail is maintained. Once the documents are shredded a Certificate of Destruction is emailed to the email address provided.
Can I watch/witness my confidential waste being shredded?
No – due to security restraints and H&S requirements, we do not allow access to our shredding equipment to anyone other than our trained and vetted employees.
Do you support Cleaning & FM Companies?
Yes – we work with a number of Cleaning and Facilities Companies providing confidential waste solutions through them to their customers. Please get in touch with your requirements as we’re sure we can offer you an excellent service at an excellent price.
What should we be shredding?
Quite frankly anything that contains personal information about you, your customers and employees along with anything that is commercially sensitive. Of course you first need to ensure that you have retained the documents according to any legal, compliance, statutory, or (justifiable) business requirements – need help with storage? Why not scan or store the documents first?
What is the smallest order you will accept?
We collect from small businesses and domestic customers who may only have a box or sack of confidential waste on a regular basis. Our minimum charge of £25.00+VAT covers you for the collection and shredding of between 1 and 5 boxes or sacks each with a maximum weight of 25KG.
Can you provide bulk shredding services?
Yes – there is no upper limit to the quantity for shredding. If you have a significant quantity of boxes or sacks to be processed, please get in touch for highly competitive pricing. In some cases we can provide a free service for the shredding of high volumes of good quality, uncontaminated paper.
Can I drop my confidential waste in for shredding?
Generally speaking we do not accept customers dropping their confidential waste in for shredding. Our shredding site is highly secure and in a different location to our main office. There are two exceptions, local domestic users are able to drop off by appointment for free shredding (subject to a small donation to charity) and we will accept delivery of large quantities of confidential waste by prior arrangement, please get in touch to discuss.
Can I pay over the phone?
No – we do not accept payment over the phone. You can pay via our online store using Debit and Credit Cards or a PayPal account. If you wish to pay via BACS please contact us for details. For regular confidential waste services, we will set you up with an account and invoice you according to the service you have chosen.
